W. V. Department of Health & Human Services
Report to Citizens

The West Virginia Department of Health & Human Resources operates an office locally at 1008 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. This office accepts and processes applications for Food Stamps, Medicaid and cash assistance. The office is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. and can be reached by calling (304)725-3464.

Changes in these hours of operation caused by weather emergency and or power failure would be announced through the local media.

In an effort to avoid any disruption in services to our customers as a result of the Y2K problem, the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources has tested all computer systems and corrected the problems that were detected. We believe we are fully prepared to enter the year 2000 with little, if any, interruption to our customers.

We are also developing contingency plans to deal with problems that arise from systems outside our control. Staff will work 1/1/2000 to test all systems for benefits. Checks, Food Stamps, and Medical Cards for January 2000 will be mailed the last week in December instead of during the 1st week of January.
