Bicycles on RTA and other transit systems

Buses on many scheduled RTA routes have bicycle racks carrying up to two standard style bicycles per bus (no recumbents, etc.) The Rapid Transit accepts bicycles except during peak weekday hours or other times when the cars are full. During non-peak hours up to two standard bicycles are accepted per Rapid car. Bicycles can enter and exit the Rapid Transit system through all stations except Public Square where bicycles can transfer between Rapid lines. #821 University Circle / Heights Area Community Circulator
- Day service on weekdays; Day and evening on Friday and Saturday. - TO: University Cedar Rapid Transit Station (RTS), the districts of Coventry Village, Cedar Fairmont, Little Italy, University Circle, the lower Shaker Lake, Larchmere Woodland and Shaker Square. Connects with Blue and Green Lines. No Sunday/Holiday Service except for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

#48 University Circle - E. 131st. St.
This Day and Evening service fills in early in the morning and evenings, when the #821 Circle/Heights service is not running. TO: Shaker Square and south. Connects with Blue and Green Lines.

RTA Red Line Cross Town Rapid Transit
#66 Red Line - Day and evening - Two University Circle Rapid Transit Stations: University Cedar and E. 120th & Euclid Ave. TO: Hopkins Airport - Downtown (connecting at Tower City/Public Square with Waterfront Line to The Flats, Warehouse District and Inner Harbor) and east to East Cleveland. (No stop at E. 34th RTS - Tri-C.)

RTA Blue and Green Lines Rapid Transit
#67X Blue Line : Shaker-Van Aken
#67AX Green Line : Shaker-Green
Blue and Green Lines provide some through service to the Waterfront Line. Day and Evening - transfer station at Shaker Square - TO: Downtown (Public Square), Tri-C Metro Campus (via connecting RTA bus from E. 34th St. RTS), throughout Shaker Heights, the Green Line goes through fine residential areas and close to the Shaker Lakes Nature Center (Green Line). The Blue Line serves Shaker Town Center, and a connection at end of Blue Line at Van Aken Center with the RTA #5 Chagrin Falls (passing by a stop at the the interestion of Chagrin Road and Chagrin River Road which is at the north end of the South Chagrin Reservation) and with the RTA #94 Richmond to the Tri-C East Campus. Some west bound Blue and Green cars/trains go through Public Square station directly to Flats, Warehouse District and Inner Harbor via Waterfront Line.

RTA East-west routes through University Circle
#6 Euclid
- Day, Evening, Night - Downtown on west, including Public Square past Playhouse Square and Cleveland State University to East Cleveland and beyond on the east. All buses on this route include bicycle rack.

#9 Mayfield - Day - Downtown on west, including Public Square past Playhouse Square and Cleveland State University to Cleveland Heights, South Euclid and east, including Severance Town Center to Mayfield Heights. Evening - University RTS through University Circle to Cleveland Heights, South Euclid and east including Severance Town Center to Mayfield Heights. All buses on this route include bicycle rack. The eastern end of the #9 line at Gates Mills Towers is a relatively short bicycle ride from park and small village. To head for the woods on your bicycle, ride north on the busy S.O.M. Center Road to the entrance of the North Chagrin Reservation of Cleveland Metroparks. To head more directly for the Chagrin River valley ride east on busy Mayfield Road for a short distance. Soon after the bend in Mayfield,at West Hill Drive interstion, turn southeast, then east on the not so busy Old Mill Road. Ride down hill to the center of exclusive Gates Mills Village. Ride south on Chagrin River Valley to trés exclusive Hunting Valley. To return, bicycles must climb hill out of valley.

#10 E 105 - Day, Evning, Night
- To East Side Market in Glenville neighborhood.

RTA East Suburban routes from University Cedar RTS
#7 Euclid Heights-Monticello-Wilson Mills
- Day, Evening - To Cleveland Heights and Hillcrest suburbs including the Euclid Creek Reservation of Cleveland Metroparks, Richmond Mall to Mayfield Village. All buses on this route include bicycle rack. The intersection of S.O.M. Center and Wilson Mills Roads is a short bicycle ride north on S.O.M. Center Road (there is an all-purpose trail along the eastern side of S.O.M. for much of the distance), to the entrance to North Chagrin Reservation. Or you can ride into the Chagrin Valley on the busy Wilson Mills Road, which is narrow curving. To return, bicycles must climb hill out of valley.

#32 Cedar Road - Day, Evening - To Cleveland Heights, University Heights, South Euclid and east including shopping districts at Cedar Fairmont, Cedar Lee, Cedar Taylor, Cedar Center, University Square, Legacy Village, La Place and Beachwood Place. Buses on this route sometimes include bicycle rack. Bicyclists living in the city who seek to ride in a semi rural area on the eastern side of the Cleveland metro area may enjoy the #32 route to Ursuline College, (weekdays only, weekend buses terminate at the Montifiore Home on Cedar Road in Beachwood, about a mile west of Ursuline College). Disembark at the end of the Ursuline destination of the #32 line at the intersection of Lander Road, Gates Mills Blvd. and Fairmont Blvd. in the suburb of Pepper Pike. Ride into the Chagrin River valley on the not-so busy Fairmont Boulvard. To return, bicycles must climb hill out of valley.

#94 Fairmont-Richmond - Day, Evening - To Cleveland Heights, near both Shaker Lakes, through fine residential districts on Fairmont Blvd., Fairmont-South Taylor, Fairmont Circle, John Carroll University, Van Aken Center and Tri-C East Campus. All buses on this route include bicycle rack. For a ride to "semi-rural" area ride east from Tri-C East on busy Harvard Road, which becomes Hiram Trail. 1) From here the busy route: north on S.O.M. Center Road, then east on busy Chagrin Blvd. to Chagrin River valley including northern end of the South Chagrin Reservation and Chagrin Falls Village. 2) Quieter route to South Chagrin Reservation: From Hiram Trail south on S.O.M. Center Road, east on not-so-busy Jackson Road, south on Chagrin River Road, past Miles Road, through South Chagrin Reservation. To return, bicycles must climb hill out of valley.
