Time line and meeting schedule for Comprehensive Plan Revision Process.

Phase I - Input Meetings

     February 8, 2000 - April 18, 2000

One meeting of the full Commission (if members can make it) at each of the following schools.  Any member unable to make a particular meeting is responsible for notifying the Staff of their absence as they would for a regular Planning Commission meeting.

1.  South Jefferson Elementary Cafeteria       Monday, February 28, 2000 from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
2.  Blue Ridge Elementary Cafeteria              Wednesday, March 8, 2000 from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
3.  Shepherdstown Jr. High Cafeteria             Thursday, March 23, 2000 from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
4.  Jefferson High Auditorium                        Saturday, April 8, 2000 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
5.  Harpers Ferry Jr. High Auditorium            Tuesday, April 18, 2000 from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

At these meetings input on the Comprehensive Plan and Ordinances will be solicited.  A sign up sheet will also be available to gauge interest for Phase II meetings.

Phase II - Neighborhood Meetings (location and number to be determined)

     April 18, 2000 - July 31, 2000

These will be small round-table discussions, intended to encourage two-way dialogue between Planning Commission members and neighborhood residents.  We will schedule as many as necessary so that everyone in the neighborhood who wishes to participate will have a chance.  One of the Planning Commission members from the area will be the facilitator, and we anticipate that at least one other Planning Commissioner will also participate in each one.

Those who wish to attend these neighborhood meetings may express their interest by either signing up at one of the larger meetings (Phase I) or contacting the Planning Commission Office.  Others who have not indicated their interest prior to a particular neighborhood meeting are still welcome to attend; however, interaction at any given meeting will be limited to those who have signed up and been scheduled to attend that meeting.

Phase III - Agencies and Group Participation

     August 1, 2000 - November 30, 2000

Solicitation to the following groups for revisions to the Plan with a specific request for a proposed update of their pertinent chapter(s).

Phase IV - Clearing House and Public Dissemination

     Concurrent with initial phases to be completed by December 31, 2000

Staff will put together all information and make it available to the Planning Commission, County Commission and Public.

Phase V - Committee

     January 1, 2001 - January 31, 2001

Committee to meet and determine next steps and/or what steps to repeat.
