In the name of God Amen, I Ann Quiggin of Kirk Braddan (widow) being
of
sound mind memory and understanding do ordain and appoint this for
my
last will and testament as follows:
First I comit my soul to God Almighty and my body unto a christian
burial.
I leave and bequeath unto my two sons viz Thomas
and
John
Quiggin
the sum
of five shillings each.
I leave and bequeath unto my son William
Quiggin
the sum of three pounds.
I leave and bequeath unto my three daughters viz Ann
wife
of Philip Cain,
Elizabeth wife of Robert Cain and
Margaret
wife
of John Cowin the sum of
one pound each and also my formed apparel of cloathes equally between
them.
I leave and bequeath unto my granddaughter Elinor
Corlet wife of William
Caine the sum of three pounds.
And lastly I nominate and appoint my son Robert
Quiggin
whole and sole
executor of this my last will and testament and residuary legatee of
all
the rest of my goods and effects movable and unmovable of what kind
name
or nature soever as witness my subscription this Thirteenth day of
November One Thousand Eight Hundred Forty-Five --13 Nov 1845 -- Ann

At a Chapter Court holden at Douglas the 26th day of October 1949.
Philip Kelly and John Quine the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing
paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Ann Quiggin
of the parish of Braddan deceased, having made oath on the Holy
Evangelists that said Ann Quiggin the testatrix when of sound and
disposing mind memory and understanding duly executed the same in their
presence as and for her last will and testament. Robert
Quiggin
the
executor therein named is thereupon sworn well and truly to fulfil
and
execute the same according to Law. To pay all just debts, legacies
and
funeral expences of the testatrix so far forth as the goods and effects
will extend and the law bind him and to return to the Episcopal registry
a full true and perfect inventory of said estate with an accurate account
of his acts and proceedings in the premises when thereunto lawfully
required and to these ends he hath given pledges namely Philip Kelly
and
John Quine both of Ballawillan in the parish of Braddan who have executed
a bond to that effect bearing equal date herewith. PROBATUM EST T.A.

From her Mother's 1784 will:
"Item: She left to her three children viz Anne, William, and Robert
her
part of the flannel web then in the tack mill, half the wool, and the
half of all the sheep equally between them.
Item: She left to her said daugher Anne, the sum of nine pounds
including the legacy that was left her by her uncle William Faile,
all
her cloathing or apparel, woolen and linen, the web of stuf (then at
the
dier) two cows integrally, one half of the household furniture, one
bed -
cloaths or bedding and the best of the spinning little wheels."
