"The last will and testament of Alice Cannell alias
Faile, wife of Wm
Cannell of Ballawillin in the parish KK Braddan, being of sound and
perfect mind and memory make in manner following.
Imp: She commended her soul to God and her body to Christian burial.
Item: She left to her three children viz Anne,
William,
and Robert
her
part of the flannel web then in the tack mill, half the wool, and the
half of all the sheep equally between them.
Item: She left to her said daugher Anne,
the sum of nine pounds
including the legacy that was left her by her uncle William
Faile, all
her cloathing or apparel, woolen and linen, the web of stuf (then at
the
dier) two cows integrally, one half of the household furniture, one
bed -
cloaths or bedding and the best of the spinning little wheels.
Item: She left and bequeathed to her husband Wm
Cannell all her half or
moriety of their estate or tenements lately purchased from Thos Kelly
of
said parish being apart of the quarterland of Ballawillin aforesaid
and a
small parcel of the 2nd land of Arderry adjoing of the annual lands
rent
of six shillings and two pence or thereabouts (as by deed dated the
3rd
Jan 1771 appears) he her said husband paying unto her two sons Wm
and
Robt the sum of forty four pounds
equally between them but if her said
husband should be -----disposed to have the aforesaid premises and
pay
the forty pounds as aforesaid. Then she hereby bequeathed and gives
the
said lands to her eldest son Wm
Cannell he her eldest son paying (in lieu
of said premises) unto her son Robert
the
sum of twenty two pounds
curency of this Isle.
Lastly: She left and bequeathed to her said loving husband Wm
Cannell,
whom she likewise constituted and appointed (the whole and sole) executor
of this her last will and testament all the residue and remainder of
her
goods, rights, and effects, movable and immovable of what kind soever,
to
be possessed and enjoyed by him - Published and declared by the within
testatrix Alice Cannell to be her last will in
presence of the
subscribing witnesses, the 29th day of June 1784.

At a Chapter Court holden at Isaac Whites of the KK Marown the 9th
day of
Nov 1784. The executor is sworn in court in form of law and hath given
pledges for payment of debts and legacies namely Robert Kelly and William
Killey both of Braddan. He the executor is also sworn guardian of the

Braddan who was buried the 9th day of June 1783*
being of good & perfect Mind and Memory at the ma-

First He committed his Sole to God and Body
to Christian Burial. ---
Itm. He Left and bequeathed to his Niece Anne
Cannell
three pounds.
Itm. Left his Nephew Wm. Cannell
forty shillings.
Itm. Left Robt. Cannell his Nephew
twenty shillings.
Itm. Left Cath. Clague twenty shillings. ---
Itm. Left Jane Kelly Widow twenty

Whereas his Brother Thos. Faile owed

Pounds, eight pounds British of which he left to be
paid to his [beneficiaries] herein after mentioned, and the rest
of the said sum to the sd. Thos. Faile.
