This is the last will and testament of me Elizabeth
Cowley widow of the
late Richard Cowley of Knock
Bane in the parish of German.
I leave and bequeath to my son John
Cowley the sum of sixty pounds
sterling as legacy.
I leave and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth
wife of Walter Cain of the
parish of German the sum of one hundred and fifty pounds sterling as
legacy.
I leave and bequeath to my son William
Edward Cowley his heirs
executors and assigns all and singular my moriety of a parcel or plot
of
land known and commonly called Builley-ny-Modda or Balldog being
parts of the quarterlands of Corvalley and BallaKaighin in the parish
of
German And also the sum of ninety pounds sterling and a feather bed
bolster and bed clothes suitable for a bed as legacy.
I leave and bequeath to my granddaughter Elizabeth Margaret Cowley
the
sum of eighty pounds sterling as legacy and a feather bed bolster and
suitable bed clothes for a bed and my will is that the said sum of
eighty
pounds is not to be paid to the said Elizabeth Margaret Cowley until
she
attains the age of twenty one years. And if the said Elizabeth Margaret
Cowley die before she arrains the age of twenty one years then I leave
in
that case the said sum of eighty pounds to her brothers my two
grandsons Richard Cowley and John Cowley equally between them.
I leave and bequeath to my son in law Hugh
Kaighin the sum of seventy
pounds Sterling, Sterling in trust, for my granddaughter Louisa Ann
Kaighin which said sum is to be paid to her when she attains the age
of
twenty one years.
I leave and bequeath to my brother William Cannell of the
parish of Michael the sum of five pounds sterling as legacy.
I will and direct that no interest is to be paid on the before mentioned
sums and I also will and direct that none of the above mentioned legacies
is to be paid until eighteen months after my decease.
And lastly I nominate constitute and appoint my daughter Elinor
Margaret
Cowley exccutrix of this my last
will and residuary legatee of
my personal estate. In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed
my
name this the Twenty Eighth day of July One Thousand Eight Hundred
and
Seventy Three. Elizabeth Cowley
Signed declared and published by the testatrix as and for her last
will
and testament in our presence: Wm Kaighin and Wm Cowley.
Know all men by these presents that Elizabeth
Margaret Cowley of
Knockbane in the parish of German spinster do own and acknowledge to
have received from Eleanor Margaret Cowley
of Melbourne Street in the
town of Douglas executrix of the late Mrs. Elizabeth
Cowley of Knockbane
in the parish of German widow of the late Richard
Cowley esquire the
sum of eighty pounds sterling the amount of a legacy bequeathed by
the
will of the said Elizabeth Cowley
widow and of which probate was
granted at an Ecclesiastical Court held in the town of Peel on or about
the 21st day of May One Thousand Eight Hundred and Seventy Five (1875).
And she does hereby release and discharge the said executrix and the
said estate from all claims and demands.
Witness her name this the Third day of August One Thousand Eight
Hundred and Seventy Six (1876). Elizabeth

Whereas Elizabeth Cowley widow of
the late Richard Cowley of
Knockbane in the parish of German did by her last will bearing date
the
28th day of July 1873 bequeath unto her son-in-law Hugh
Kaighin the sum
of Seventy pounds in trust for her granddaughter Louisa Ann Kaighin
as
legacy And whereas at a Chapter Court held in Peel on the 21st day
of
May 1875 the said will was duly proved and probate thereof granted
to
Eleanor Margaret Cowley the executrix
therein named.
Now Know all men by these presents that I Hugh
Kaighin of Rhenass in
the parish of German do own and acknowledge to have received from the
said executrix Eleanor Margaret Cowley
the said sum of seventy pounds
and I do exonerate release acquit and discharge the said executrix
Eleanor Margaret Cowley her executors
and administrators and every
person whomsoever of and from all futher claim or demand on account
of the aforesaid legacy of seventy pounds and every part thereon with
all
interest due thereon and do desire and direct that the said legacy
be and
do stand cancelled on the said will on record as witness my
subscription this the 16th day of December 1876. Hugh

Know all men by these presents that Walter
Caine of the parish of
German and Elizabeth his wife do hereby
own and acknowledge to have
received from Margaret Cowley executrix
... the full sum of One hundred and fifty pounds
... and do hereby acquit and discharge the said Eleanor
Margaret
Cowley from all claims and demands
in respect thereof and
doth desire and direct the same to be stand cancelled upon this 15
August 1876. Witness the names Walter
Caine and Elizabeth Caine
Know all men by these presents that Hugh
Kaighin son in law of the within
named executrix Elizabeth Cowley
and Louisa Ann Kaighin granddaughter
of the testratrix do hereby acknowledge and have received from Eleanor
Margaret Cowley executrix ... the
sum of seventy
pounds with all interest then being then accrued on a recurring legacy
left to the said Hugh Kaighin
in trust for the said Louisa Anne Kaighin on
her attaining the age of twenty one years - she now being at that age
and
they do hereby direct this the said legacy may be cancelled on record
