"Articles of Marriage concluded and agreed upon by and betwixt John Cain
of the parish of KK Braddon and Catheren his wife in the behalf of their
daughter Catheren Cain on the one partie and Wm Callow of the said parish
on the other partie as followeth:
First it is concluded and agreed upon betwixt the said parties that the
above said Wm Callow and Cathrin Cain shall enter into the Holy Estate of
Matrimony at or before the first of May next in licencing the date hereof
God and Holy church permitting of same. It is concluded and agreed upon
betwixt the said parties that the above said John Cain and Catheren his
wife do hereby give in dowery with their daughter the said Catheren Cain
and their intended son in law, Wm Callow, the one half of all their
effects in present proportion moveable and immoveable and the other half
after the dath(death) of the longer liver of the said John Cain and
Cathren his wife proved that the yong(young) couple Wm Callow and
Catheren Cain his intended wife will be aiding and assisting unto them in
their declining years and not otherwise and for the faithfull performance
of all and singular the promises both parties have bound themselves in
the penallty of forty pounds in the nature of all fines within this Isle
as witness their hand and mark this 26th of April 1750." John Cain my
