CLEARWATER - Seminole Finance employees say the image has been there for at least a year and it wasn't given much notice until Tuesday (12/17/96). A phone call was place to CBS affiliate WTSP and video photographer Fred Shearer was the first to arrive on scene. The story aired on the 12:00 noon news and within two hours hundreds gathered to the site. Most were from the Tampa/St. Petersburg area and by 2:30 am, over a thousand people had come to view the Holy Virgin.
