James Earl Jones said that he asked Lucas whether he's going to be playing any part in the Prequel Trilogy.
Lucas responded that James Earl Jones will be playing a part later on in the trilogy as Darth Vader, when
Vader becomes all "Bionic". I distinctly remember that Lucas used the term "bionic".
C3PO and R2D2 *are* in the prequels, but C3PO is supposed to look a little different.
The Millenium Falcon will be in the Prequels but the it will not look like the old, rusty thing it was in SW. Instead
it will be much newer, cleaner, and better. Basically it'll be what George Lucas would have made it look like if
he had today's technology in 1977.
USA Today article on Star Wars of 1/31/97, Lucas in an interview oficially made in known he had scrapped
any possibilities for a sequel trilogy. (This is considering that SW, TESB, and ROTJ were 4-6, The Genesis will
be 1-3, and the scrapped trilogy would be what happens after ROTJ.) (submitted by Gil Varod)
I have since gotten a few emails stating that Lucas WILL make sequels (episodes 7-9) - Any thoughts?
Technicians began arriving in England this week to begin construction on sets and props for the new Star
Wars prequel Trilogy, which will begin filming at Leavesden Studios in the Fall of 1997. The project is of
unprecedented size and complexity and this studio was one of the few in the world that could accomodate it.
GOLDENEYE filmed there a couple of years ago. The prequel is set 40 years prior to the timeframe of the
original Trilogy. The films have unprecedented levels of digital content (said to be around 50%!), so they will be
in post-production for a phenomenal year-and-a-half each. This neccessitates the current 1999 release date
for the first film. (qote by Eric Carter)
It appears that the new movies will most likely contain plot developed around hordes of Jedi Knights, the
Emperor's rise to power, the decline of the Alliance, cloning of the Jedi Knights and the Clone Wars, the
workings of an Imperial Cloaking device, perhaps a word or two about the Katana fleet, Anakin Skywalker
and Obi Wan Kenobi, the birth of Luke and Leia, the duel between Anakin and Kenobi...
Goerge Lucas will direct the first installment, the Clone Wars, to set the stage for future directors and Luke
and Leia's mother will be introduced and play an active role in the prequels. (submitted by John)
Each prequel will be chronologically twenty years apart. The first with Anikin as 8-9 years old, second 20-27,
and the last with him 39 - 48. Luke will be born in that movie. (submitted by Montgomery Sutton)
