My O Scale Model Railroad
Shown below is a drawing of the space that I
have started to build my O Scale Model Railroad. Progress reports
and photos will appear from time to time.
PROGRESS REPORTS:
3/26/00: Installed & painted first 16
feet of backdrop material.
6/11/00: Started benchwork at Alvan (next to office).
9/08/00: Benchwork for Alvan, Woodvale, and Robertsdale 30%
Complete.
11/21/00: Construction has been halted on the EBT as I
consider other alternatives. Alternatives include Chicago, South Shore,
and South Bend including some of the CTA elevated and subway system, a layout
based on 69th street terminal in Philadelphia including the Rapid Transit,
Philadelphia & Western and the Lehigh Valley Transit, or a layout based on
Boston's Rapid Transit system. Comments and suggestions are always
welcome.

Description of Basement:
This basement space is unfinished. The ceiling height is about 80".
The floor is concrete and the walls are cinderblock. The space is
61' by 30' +/-. There are small typical basement windows on the
right wall and on the front wall as shown on the drawing. The
yellow areas are reserved for the office, the shop, and access
areas. The arrow on the stairway points up to the first floor.
There is also a door in the back wall leading into a cold cellar
which we rarely use. The rectangle in the middle is the flue and
supports for the fireplace above and a wood stove is attached but
will be removed before the layout reaches that area. The two
small squares are the only other supports in the basement. They
are about 4" square. The office has an outside entrance as
shown. The backdrop is on the left office wall and curves around
the sink area. Also the sink will be removed and re-installed on
the left wall near the water softener.
