All about Mo...

This is Mo.

Mo was adopted from the MousePad Orphanage on March 31, 1997. Mo is short for "Monticello". A few facts about Mo...

You probably came in here expecting to find pictures of a real pet mouse like you saw on my other pet pages like Lucy my cat and Dixie my dog.

Mo is a little different! He is a VIRTUAL mouse and there is a real reason for that.

Here's the reason.....

When I was a kid (around 10 years old) my mother gave me a cute little white pet mouse for my birthday. I named him Mickey and he was a great surprise. My mom had him hidden in her closet and was sure I would discover him before my birthday because Mickey just loved to run like crazy on his exercise wheel which was rather noisey and squeaky. But my mom pulled it off. I never suspected a thing.

Anyway, as time went on, Mickey needed a friend (not to mention my sister wanted one) so he got one. Mice were so cute. At one time we eventually accumulated 4 mice (all the same sex of course) *G*.

One morning, my mom was cleaning the cage. All of a sudden I heard her {{SCREAM}}. I ran to see what had happened. To our surprise there were "little brown things" that resembled kidney beans, squirming around in the cedar chips. Well, those "little brown squirmy things" turned out to be 14 little baby mice! Evidently, one of the "boys" wasn't what the pet shop employee said "he" was.

Raising 14 baby mice was a nightmare. Those little guys and girls were little devils. Their mom and dad's didn't do to well teaching them manners. As the babies got a little older, they started running around the cage. Still quite small, they were able to squeeze between the cage bars and get out! (Remember, back then the cages consisted of metal bars.)

Imagine trying to find a baby mouse in a large house (four stories counting the basement and attic). It wasn't easy but we managed to find them--not always in the same day that they escaped. One, however, was so bad that we never did find him.

Needless to say, as soon as the babies were old enough to be taken from their "mother" we donated them back to the pet shop where we got them. We didn't want to risk keeping them until the 14 babies started having 14 or so babies each of their own!

So for now, I'm quite happy having Mo as my very own virtual mouse! He is a lot easier to take care of and doesn't try to escape his cage, er I mean web page!

Phew....
After that long story Mo feels a bit tired. He always likes me to tell him that story as his bed-time story.

Nighty-Nite Mo. Pleasant Dreams!

It's a Small World

Matilda
Meet Matilda mouse and her husband Bert. Matilda is Mo's nanny and is always looking out for him--making sure that he doesn't get "mouse knapped". Bert is always watching too! If Matilda or Bert see any foul play they will report the suspect immediately to Vikimouse! So BEWARE--Don't even think of "mouse knapping"! If you are interested in adopting your own mouse, stop by the MousePad Orphanage and fill out an adoption application!
