Welcome to the ULTRA list !!!!!If you have any questions about the list, we suggest you retrieve the ULTRA FAQ document. It answers most of the questions that you may have about listserv commands and etiquette. It also contains references to some other ultrarunning and general running resources available on the Internet and in print. To retrieve the document, send a message to the listserv address:listserv@listserv.dartmouth.edu with the following command in the BODY (not subject) of the message: get ultra faq
There's a few things we'd like to ask of you:
1. Your Bio Note: your bio will be archived at http://www.run100s.com/Bios. If you don't want this to happen, or have later revisions, send e-mail to Stan Jensen at StanJ@run100s.com and he'll take care of it. --------- clip here ---------

2. 'The Rule' -- !!!!!!!!!!! VERY IMPORTANT !!!!!!!!!!! 3. 'The Guidelines' -- (ALSO VERY IMPORTANT!) The following guidelines were written to help keep the list running as smoothly as possible. While the consequences of not following them are not as drastic as violating The Rule, please keep these points in mind whenever you want to post a message to the list. They're just common courtesy. a. Please THINK CAREFULLY before posting--is what you have to say interesting enough to be read by more than a thousand ultrarunning- oriented people? b. Please include your name and e-mail address at the bottom of each message you send to the list. c. If you're replying to a post from another subscriber, please summarize or include only the relevant part(s) of their message, not the whole thing. It's VERY annoying to read through a 100-line quoted message to discover only a line or two of new text at the bottom ! d. Please, PLEASE, when you send a message use a Subject header that is descriptive of the message you're writing. If you are in DIGEST mode and reply to the digest, the Subject header will come out as: "Re: ULTRA Digest....". That does NOT give the reader a clue as to what the content of your message might be. Many subscribers use the subject header to determine whether or not they want to take the time to read a message. e. Please keep list messages on subjects relevant to ultrarunning as described in the list charter. There are other groups (mailing lists and newsgroups) around for other types of questions. Please check the ULTRA FAQ for a list of these other resources. f. Please do not 'SHOUT' (type an entire message in all capital letters.) It makes messages hard to read, and is considered annoying by almost everyone. g. Please send only text messages to the list, not HTML, as many people do not have mail programs that can read HTML messages. If you are using Outlook for email, go to Tools - Options and choose Plain Text for outgoing mail. For Netscape Communicator, choose Edit Preferences, Click on the Messages subarea within Mail & Groups, and uncheck the box that says 'By Default, send HTML messages'. Other HTML-capable mailers will have similar options. h. Please refrain from posting ads to the list (race announcements are a specific exception.) If you have something of interest for sale to the community, you can post a short message saying "I have XXX for sale. Write me privately if you are interested." While nobody will be removed for not following these guidelines in a single message, as the listowners we reserve the right to temporarily or permanently remove subscribers that continue to ignore them. Finally, we hope you enjoy the list!!! If you have any questions, comments or problems, please contact either of the listowners:
