The Holy Spirit creates and
sustains the church through the Gospel and thereby unites
believers with their Lord and with one another in the
fellowship of faith. The mission of the church is
to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and administer the
Sacraments to create and sustain Christian faith and
fellowship. The risen Christ commits to us,
through the Scriptures, that the purpose of our lives
shall be go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing
them in the name of the Father
and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them
to observe everything that he has commanded.(Matthew 28:
18-20) The substance of all that He has commanded
is contained in his words; "You shall love the Lord
your God with your whole heart, with your whole soul and
with your mind" (Matthew 22: 37) and "You shall
love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments
depend all the Law and the Prophets."(Matthew 22:
39-40) We therefore understand that our mission
and purpose as Christ's followers is to proclaim and
demostrate to all the message of love and reconcilliation
with God and with their fellowmen. We must determine the
manner and means of such proclamation an demostration
under the leadership and guidance of His Holy Spirit.
