Individual Marathon - The Event
Each participant will run a full marathon (26.2 miles). The start is at the Avalon Hotel, 10th & Peach Street at 7:30 a.m. The first 6 miles are run through the city of Erie. The middle 14 miles consists of a loop of beautiful Presque Isle State Park. The final 6 miles are run along Erie's bay front, with the finish at Perry Square, Erie, PA (Located 4 blocks from starting line). The course is flat, with the exception of one hill located at the entrance / exit to Presque Isle State Park.

Registration Fee
$30 - Erie Runner's Club members (before August 31, 2001)
$35 - Early registration (before August 31, 2001)
$40 - Late registration (after August 31, 2001)

Commemoratives
All entrants will receive a long-sleeve multi-color T-shirt. In addition, all marathon finishers will receive a finisher's medal at the finish line, and will be mailed a finisher's certificate suitable for framing.

Awards and Results
First, second and third places overall (male and female)
First place masters division (male and female)
Individual awards will be made in both men's and women's division in the following 12 age groups:
19 and under, 20 - 24, 25 - 29, 30 - 34, 35 - 39, 40 - 44, 45 - 49, 50 - 54, 55 - 59, 60 - 64, 65 - 69,70 and over
The Rich Martino Memorial Award will be given to the first place male and female first time marathoner.
All finishers will receive a results booklet listing their finish times, as well as their age group placement. The awards ceremony will be held the day of the event at Perry Square. It will begin at approximately noon.


Limitations
The race committee reserves the right to reject any entry. No bicycles, roller or inline skates, or vehicles of any kind are permitted on the racecourse. All entrants must maintain a 12-minute per mile pace. All water stops, support facilities, and other personnel will be instructed to close their station at the time corresponding to a 12 minute per mile pace.

Aid Stations and Runner Services
Frequent aid stations serving water and Gatorade sport drink will be strategically placed along the course.
Shower facilities will be available at the Downtown YMCA, located at 10th and Peach Streets, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on race day. Runners must provide their own soap and towels.

The average temperature for September is an "Eriesistible" 61 degrees with an average high of 70 and an average low of 53.

The Avalon offers participants special rates of $59 per night and a late check out time of 2:00 p.m. on race day.


Packet Pickup
Packet pickup and late registration will be held on Saturday, September 8th at the Avalon Hotel from noon until 6:00 p.m., and from 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 a.m. the morning of the race. If at all possible, please pick up your packet on Saturday.


Carbo-Loading Dinner - PLEASE PAY AT THE DOOR!!
An "All-You-Can-Eat" carbohydrate dinner will be held at the Avalon Hotel on Saturday, September 8th from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The cost is $11.00 per person.

2 Person Marathon Relay
The Event
Each participant will run a 1/2 marathon (13.1 miles). Bus transportation will be provided to and from the exchange point. All team members are required to use the buses.

$50 - Erie Runner's Club members (before August 31, 2001)
$55 - Early registration (before August 31, 2001)v $60 - Late registration (after August 31, 2001)


Commemoratives
All entrants will receive a long-sleeve multi-color T-shirt.

Awards and Results
First place overall
First, second and third places in the following 6 divisions:
Men's Open Men's Masters (both team members must be at least 40 years of age)
Women's Open Women's Masters (both team members must be at least 40 years of age)
Mixed Open Mixed Masters (both team members must be at least 40 years of age) All finishers will receive a results booklet listing their finish times, as well as their division placement.

5K Fun Run / Walk
The Event A non-competitive 5K fun run / walk, starting with the marathon, will follow the first 3.1 miles of the marathon course. No awards will given for this event. All finishers will receive a results booklet listing their finish times. All entrants will receive a long-sleeve multi-color T-shirt.

Eriesistible Kids Run
The Event A non-competitive fun run for kids (ages 2 through 12) will begin at 8:30 a.m. on the morning of the marathon. Races will be run at Perry Square near given for the finish line of the marathon. There will be different heats for each age their finish times. All entrants will receive a long-sleeve multi-color T-shirt. Group. All participants will receive a finisher's ribbon.

Registration Fee
$4 per entrant. T-shirts are in children's sizes.
