Barry:
I'm Barry. I'm a career paramedic for Corry Ambulance Service Inc. (CASI) and a volunteer firefighter for the Spartansburg Volunteer Fire Department (SVFD) and the Spartansburg Volunteer Ambulance Service. Below are some pictures of me.

I have been employed at CASI since March of 1992. I received my paramedic certification in 1994. I have been a volunteer firefighter for SVFD since I was 14. SVFD has a Junior Fire Department that allows membership for early training. At the age of 18, you become a Senior member of the department. When I was 18, I became an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) and became active with the Spartansburg Ambulance. Currently, I am the Fire Captain (C-4) for the fire department and Vice President/Assistant Chief (A-2) for the ambulance service. I'm an instructor for ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and CPR. I also help teach EMT classes locally. I spend my free time (what little I have) with my wife when we have those rare days off together. We like to watch movies, go to restaurants, wine tasting and golfing. When we aren't together, I golf, fish, hunt and play on the computer. I spend most of my time on the computer playing Links LS 1999, PaintballNet, Deer Hunter 2 and chatting on mIRC in #Copsbeat. Copsbeat is located on Talk City and is a channel owned by a LEO (Law Enforcement Officer) and open to all LEOs, Dispatchers, Firefighters, EMS personnel and their friends and family. Visit the Copsbeat / Kops photo album at Copsbeat/Kops Photo Albums. mIRC is one of the links I have listed if you are interested. Talk City requires you to register before accessing the chat servers. Registration is free and, I recommend registering 2 nicknames with the same password in case of access problems such as server crashes. To access Talk City with mIRC, go to IRC Servers then Add. Description: Talk City, IRC Server: chat.talkcity.com, Port(s): 6667. You will also have to enter your password at the bottom of this setup. If you visit us in #Copsbeat, my nickname is Scoutmedic. Hope to see you there! Links LS is a great golfing game that you can play by yourself or online with others. I highly recommend it. It comes with 5 golf courses and, you can buy additional courses as they come available. I have 27 courses now. PaintballNet is also a great game. It was designed by David R. Michael. My nickname on Paintball is Swatmedic. It is basically a paintball war game but, you can buy all kinds of crazy equipment, clothing and weapons to use. David R. Michael also has a new game currently in public beta called Artifact. I haven't tried it out yet but, looks to be a medieval strategy game. Another great internet chat / messaging program is ICQ. ICQ allows you to receive online messages and chat with other people who have it from all over the world. It also has instant notification when someone on your list is online. It is free and has all kinds of great features.
My ICQ number is 24491882.
I was recently contacted by another person with the surname "Scouten" which has gotten me interested in the genealogy of my family again. If you have any information that may pertain to my Scouten family heritage, please contact me or, if you are interested in your own family genealogy, I have added a link to a free genealogy forum. There are also two new links under the title of Genealogy on our links page.
My "line" has been traced back to Henry "Fox" Scouten who was the first Scouten in the Spartansburg Pennsylvania area in the 1860's. It is unknown where Fox came from. A census report from 1860 and another in 1870 reported his birth place as New York. His tombstone places his birthdate in 1815 but, the obituary reported his birthdate as 1820. He was married to Emily Peck and, they had 5 or 6 children named Emily, Ezra (May have died in childhood), Emma or Emmet (conflicting reports), Jennie, Elbert and Fred. I know that Jennie and Elbert remained in the general vicinity of Spartansburg. I am descended from Elbert. Fred is believed to have moved out west but, it is not known what became of him. We also have a report from Salt Lake that has a Henry Scouten born in Spartanburg, South Carolina in 1832. This report also states that he married Emily H. Peck. The census reports from that period are conflicting. They have Henry's age as follows: 1860-38, 1870-50 and 1880-62.
I will continue to post new information as I acquire it. Once again, any information would be helpful.
