Cameron's Closet (1989)

Cameron's Closet

Cameron (Scott Curtis) has special powers that he can't quite understand. His father is obsessed with Cameron's gift, videotaping him as he moves objects around with his mind.

When Cameron finds a peculiar doll at his father's office and takes it home, all hell (literally) breaks loose. Will anyone be able to escape what is lurking inside Cameron's closet?

Well, I must say one positive thing about this movie: the special effects are good. But, aside from that, it's pretty lame. I don't think this movie's stars could act their way out of a paper bag if they had to. But some of the actors (like Mel Harris of "Thirtysomething") are great in other projects, so I'm led to believe that the flaw is in the writing. You can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear, I guess.

When a great movie like Poltergeist comes out, you have to expect some attempts to copy it. "Cameron's Closet" is in no way a threat to that classic horror flick.
