Does everyone experience true love? Is there a "someone special" for each soul on Earth? Hoops McCann (John Cusack) is beginning to wonder about these questions. He notices that Love (whom he envisions as a cartoon-like cherub) just keeps passing him by. Along with this disappointment is the fact that he can't get a college basketball scholarship (a major bummer for a guy named "Hoops"). When his best friend, George (Joel Murray), invites him to Nantucket for the summer, Hoops decides to use the time to get his life in order.
While on Nantucket, Hoops meets Cassandra (Demi Moore). Cassandra's grandfather is in danger of losing his house to the evil Beckersted family. If she cannot raise enough money to pay off her grandfather's debts, his house will be torn down to make room for a new land development. Hoops decides to help Cassandra out. Perhaps by the end of this one crazy summer, Love won't be a stranger to Hoops any longer.
I enjoyed "One Crazy Summer" a great deal. It is a very funny movie! There are alot of sight gags, and definitely some wacky characters. Some of the humor is juvenile (like fart jokes) but hey, isn't that the best kind of humor anyway? I especially loved Bobcat Goldthwait as Egg Stork. His famous screaming goes on throughout the movie, and that alone always makes me laugh.
There are also some cute animation sequences in the film. I believe it's a mini trademark of writer/director "Savage" Steve Holland. His movie, "Better Off Dead", has similar animations.
Check out "One Crazy Summer" sometime. I'm sure you'll like it as much as I did.
