They say that everyone has a twin somewhere in the world. Unfortunately for Katie, she just found hers. Mary Steenburgen stars as Katie McGovern, an actress who has just been offered the role of a lifetime. Katie strongly resembles an actress who supposedly had a nervous breakdown and cannot finish her latest project. The "director" (Jan Rubes) asks Katie to take over for the actress so the film can be completed.
Against her husband's advice, Katie heads to the secluded mansion where shooting is to begin. As the days go by, Katie realizes that there really isn't a movie being made; she is wanted for another reason. Would it have anything to do with the dead woman in her bed?
Two words come to mind when you watch this movie: Alfred Hitchcock. No, he didn't make this movie, but I think that the director must've been a fan. The suspense level is extremely high, and not alot of blood is needed to get the point across.
The set design leaves something to be desired, however. The mansion is very bland, everything in dark, depressing colors. Perhaps this was done to add to the dreariness of Katie's situation, but it seems to be a little too much.
Roddy McDowell plays a pivotal role as Mr. Murray. Casting him in this role was a great idea. Some actors always seem to play "the good guy". When they finally play "the bad guy", the movie is much more sinister.
