Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning (1985)

Friday the 13th Part V

When movie moguls see a way to make more money for themselves, they don't let a little hole in the plot get in their way. In the case of "Friday the 13th Part V", that plot hole is the fact that Jason Voorhees, killer extraordinaire, was successfully bumped-off in Part IV !! Yep, money sure has a way of making people do funny things...

Tommy (John Shepard) put an end to Jason's rampage a few years ago, and has been suffering emotionally ever since. He is receiving mental help at a camp-like facility with other troubled teens. When campers once again begin dropping like flies, it's believed that Tommy has taken up where Jason left off. Has he, or is this just a really bad flick?

I am a fan of every Friday the 13th movie except this one. I refuse to believe that someone couldn't have written a better story than this. Were they trying to beat a deadline or something? The entire storyline reminds me of a sadistic soap opera, blood and guts along with the melodrama (and the effects aren't that good).

I was disappointed that Tommy was not again played by Corey Feldman (except in flashbacks). I'm not sure if having him back for Part V could've helped the movie in any way, but it certainly wouldn't have hurt.

I'd avoid this movie like the plague, if I were you. If you must see this movie so you can say "I've seen all of the 'Friday the 13th' movies", just remember that it'll all be over in 92 minutes.

MPAA Rating: R

Why You'll Know It's From the 80's:
The 80's was the decade of greed, and only greedy movie execs out
to squeeze more money out of the loyal Jason fans would make such
a motion picture.

Dog Appeal:
It's sad to say, but there's not even HUMAN appeal!
