Central Band Newsletter
July 2000
The music and drill for this year's show is now in place and the band is working hard to bring it to a successful conclusion. As this newsletter is being written during the July camp, it may seem a long way to the first competition but there is plenty of things going on in the background. Flags are being made, uniforms and shoes being fitted, and equipment checked in order for the upcoming band season. While it may seem that not much is getting done, in actuality, quite a bit is getting accomplished. New volunteers are always welcome to join in and give a helping hand in any capacity.
Medical forms are to be returned as soon as possible. This is not our requirement, but one that all school districts require when students participate in extra-curricular activities. PLEASE return this form to Patty Strellow.
The vendor party is still looking for some vendors to participate in this event. It is scheduled for November 18th at Holy Rosary Gymnasium. If you have a relative or a friend who sells Avon, Home Interiors, etc... please contact Barb Sanders. The monies raised at this event will be deposited into the general fund.
Ham and cheese pretzel sandwiches are this month's fundraiser. The cost is $1.50 per sandwich. They are made by Teresa's Italian Deli and will feature 2 slices of ham and 1 slice of provolone cheese. Your profit is 75 cents per sandwich. Orders are PREPAID and MUST be turned in no later than August 3rd at the General Band meeting scheduled at Glenwood Park (at the last picnic pavilion). The sandwiches will be delivered on Wednesday, August 9th.

September's fund raising activity will be Valerio's coupons. More information will be upcoming at a later date. As past and present band members will attest, these coupons come in handy during the band season.
Lottery Tickets are enclosed in the newsletter that was mailed home. If you do not wish to participate in this fund raising activity, please discard them. If you would like more tickets - or have a question, contact Evelyn Wedzikowski, or see her at the general meeting at Glenwood Park on Aug. 3rd.
A BIG thank you goes out to Keith Sauers. Keith, eho is the president of the Central Football Boosters, has graciously donated a power sprayer to our band. This sprayer will be used to paint the lines on our field, and has saved the band hundreds of dollars. The sprayer will be especially appreciated in the later stages of the band season when the ground is wet. So if you know or see Keith, tell him you are from the band and give him a big thank you!
Our annual camp picnic will beheld on Friday, August 18th, the time is still to be determined. This will be held rain or shine so come abd let the kids give you a sneak preview of the show and have dinner with the band members and their families. More details as they become available.
Please be patient if band rehearsal runs a little long. Because every band competition is judged, the instructors are constantly trying to improve the show to appease the judges.
