An
Odyssey in Giving
Odyssey is
defined by the dictionary as "an intellectual or spiritual
wandering or quest." It is of course, associated with the
epic poem of the same name attributed to Homer recounting the long
wanderings of Odysseus. In the 2001 campaign for United Way,
we have a quest. It is vital to the well-being of thousands of
our neighbors in Mercer, Tazewell and Bland counties. It is
vital that we are successful in our fundraising quest for the health
and human care agencies that serve our neighbors in need.
Proverbs exhorts
us: "Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when
it is in your power to act. Do not say to your neighbor, come
back later: I'll give it tomorrow - when you have it with
you." It is in your power to act. Don't wait until
tomorrow. Tomorrow is too late for many children and for many
families. Listen to your heart and to your conscience.
Act today. Be part of the quest to help others. Give!
Sincerely,

Mrs. Charles M.
