| Mt. CAP's main objective is to enable low income people to rise above and conquer their poverty situations through temporary assistance, education and follow-up. The staff works with each client to help them fulfill their potential. The Bland emergency fund has been organized to meet emergency or urgent needs of the residents on a short-term basis. Last year, 120 households representing 300 individuals received assistance with utility bills, rent, mortgage payments, medicine and transportation. A special service for the senior citizens involved Green Thumb workers assisting those senior citizens in need with a multitude of help, including gardening and housecleaning. One hundred sixty seven (167) senior citizens were served with this program last year. |
