Mercer County Opportunity Industries, Inc. was chartered December 8, 1965 as a private, non-profit organization to serve handicapped persons 16 years and older in our area. No person will be denied admittance or otherwise denied services because of race, creed, sex, religion or national origin. Work training programs are offered to eligible persons that are designed to provide handicapped individuals with job activities from simple to complex. Persons in training work under the same conditions as found in business and industry so that work activities and good work habits learned are transferable to work outside of the workshop environment. Goals are to help individuals with disabilities:

1. Achieve or maintain economic self-support.
2. Achieve or maintain self-sufficiency.
3. Develop a sense of achievement and improve interpersonal relationships.

The ultimate goal is to aid Workshop Clients in finding suitable employment in the community. We have an Employment Specialist and a Job Coach on staff to see that placements are successful.
