| The
Salvation Army is motivated by a Love of God and a concern for the
Needs of all Humanity. This motivation is expressed in the
work of The Salvation Army by providing basic human necessities,
such as food, clothing, utility and rental assistance. Every
day, The Salvation Army offers a helping band of people of all
ages, race and cultural backgrounds. Assistance around the
world and connected locally include emergency lodging, Missing
Persons Bureau, service to the Armed Forces, service to
correctional institutions, Adult Rehabilitation Centers, Social
Service Centers and counseling anti-local and world-wide
disasters. In Mercer and the surrounding counties, more than
8,000 individuals are given assistance with lodging, meals, summer
camping experience, utility and rent. Over 50,000 persons
utilized various recreational programs through the gym facilities
at both locations. Senior Programs at both Princeton and
Bluefield give our over-fifty population a place to relax,
exercise, fellowship and enjoy a hot lunch. Child care is
provided from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Princeton location and
an after-school program in Bluefield provides an excellent
opportunity for socialization and other activities until parents
arrive. We continually search for areas of need and ways to
expand assistance in our area. Our volunteer base also
continues to grow. |
