| The WE CAN project assists families struggling with child abuse or neglect by using community volunteers to provide support to enhance parenting skills, to open up alternative life styles and opportunities and to facilitate sound decision-making and problem-solving. WE CAN volunteers work with the professionally trained staff of the West Virginia Department of Human Services in providing these services to parents and children. Families in southern West Virginia receive over 8,000 hours of service from WE CAN volunteers over the duration of a year. |
